SWIMMING
REMITS FOR CONFERENCE
TEAM FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS.
A meeting of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association t was held last evening, at which notification was received from the Dominion Council of remits for the annual conference as follows:— - :
That an efficient instructor for both islands be appointed for the teaching of swimming and life-saving, and that the New Zealand Council approach the Government in connection with having the teaching of swimming and life-saving made compulsory "throughout the schools of' New Zealand. (Auckland.)
That it be a recommendation to the council that it open negotiations with the Australian union for an interchange of male' swimmers with Australia.
That rule'l2 of the diving rules bo amended to read: "The four compulsory dives be selected from" the ' full list of dives as contained in the official handbook." (Wellington.) That the registration fee of la per senior declared member payable under law 8 be reduced to 6d per "senior declared member.
That in future the overseas representation fund be used, primarily for the object of bringing'swimmers to New Zealand for .educational purposes, and that this be ' the main object of the fund.
That it bo a recommendation to the council that the council consider the advisability of fixing 'a time limit on school children when swimming for distance certificates.
That the water polo draw at the Dominion championships bo arranged by the council, and not by the centre controlling the meeting, and at least a week beforehand. '
That the New Zealand championship water polo matches be so arranged that each team entered shall play every other team. (Canterbury.) -That the 1928 New Zealand championships be allotted to the South Canterbury centre. (South Canterbury.) That the 1928 New Zealand championships be allotted to the Otago centre. (Otago.) i
The following team was selected for the, national championships:— RixTrott, 100 yds, 220 yds, 440 yds, 880 yds; Batchelor, 100 and 440 yds; "W. Cameron, 100, 220,' and 100 yds breaststroke (intermediate boys). Mr. P. Coira was appointed' manager. .
