TO VISIT DOMINION
A MELBOURNE TEAM.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) - CHRISTCHURCH, 10th Jan. The ' Management 'Committee of the New Ze'atand Cricket Council has been most anxious to secure a visit by an overseas team during the present season in view of the forthcoming English tour. Negotiations were entered into with South Australia, but broke down on the question' of terms, the Souths Australians stipulating 15s a day expenses, while the council resolutely refused t-> givo more than the maximum ever granted to ,a visiting team, 10s'a day. The council's Australian representative (Mr. T. Howard) .was then advised to ask the Board of Control to send an Australian team, but ho replied that in view of the New South visit to Western Australia and the Macartney, benefit match at Sydney it was improbable that a good team could be sent.
Nowise .perturbed, the Management Committee approached Mr. Hugh Trumbls, and asked for a Melbourne club side with Trumble as manager. After many cables have been exchanged it has now been definitely arranged that a side shall be sent subject to the governing Lody./s approval. The team will include Hendry, Ransford, Armstrong, and "Ebling with possibly two other internationals. Such a sido should give a New Zealand ,team a good try out before the start of its groat adventure.
