GISBORNE, Ist January: llie principal attraction to-day was the nrst day of the Ngatapa sports, held at the Park Racecourse, .Gisborne, at which 1 the New Zealand professional championships were decided. The weather was fine and the attendance totalled, between four and five thousand. -The' course was in good condition.- Following are the results: . 100 Yards Championship.—A. ; Berry (Gisborne), 1; T. Hurrey (Gisborne), 3. Won by syds, 3yds between second and third. Time, 53sec- A prostest was put in against Preston on account of alleged incorrect performances at the time of nomination. On the first ground Preston was disqualified for tho race, which was awarded to tlio second man, Hurrey.
