GISBORNE, Ist January: llie principal attraction to-day was the nrst day of the Ngatapa sports, held at the Park Racecourse, .Gisborne, at which 1 the New Zealand professional championships were decided. The weather was fine and the attendance totalled, between four and five thousand. -The' course was in good condition.- Following are the results: . 100 Yards Championship.—A. ; Berry (Gisborne), 1; T. Hurrey (Gisborne), 3. Won by syds, 3yds between second and third. Time, 53sec- A prostest was put in against Preston on account of alleged incorrect performances at the time of nomination.
