POWER BOARD LOANS
MINISTER REJECTS PROPOSAL.
(By Telegraph.—Prejis Association.) PALMEBSTON N., siyth Dec. For some time past tlio Power Boards' i Association has been endeavouring to obtain legislativo authority to allow one board to lend any surplus funds it may have to another board temporarily. Tho Minister of Finance haa now informed Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P., chairman of the association, that it in not considered desirablo to grant such authority, adding that tho proposal would possibly moan the granting of further powers to the borrowing board to 'borrow without tho consent of tho ratopayers, and that difficulty would alao ba experienced in Taiaing sufficient cash to meet the demand for repay mont when %e. lending board roguitcd tho.inonoy.
