MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police cases in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with by Mr. E. Page, S.M.
The theft of a gold ring worth £lv, from a house where she was staying in Wellington, was admitted by a young married woman, whose name was suppressed. Mr. B. J. Dolan, who appeared for the accused, stated that the girl had taken the ring to wear to a dance, and had foolishly failed to return it. The Magistrate ordered her to come up for sentence when called upon within twelve months.
On a charge of stealing sums of money totalling £99 3s Bd, belonging to the Government, Erie C. Eoso was remanded to appear to-morrow we«k. Bail in the sum of £200 and one surety oi' £200 was renewed.
Two first-offenders, for drunkenness, wero fined 10s, tho amount of their bail, and a third, who appeared in Court, was fined ss.
A first offender for drunkenness was convicted and discharged by Mr. T. H. Coltman, J.P., in the Mount Cook Police Court to-day.
