WICKETS AT LOWER HUTT
The Wellington Cricket Association's Management Committee met last evening, Mr. C. G. Wilson presiding. Others present were Messrs. H. M. M'G-irr, 11. J. Buck, A. Rpnaldson, R. S. Johnston, D. M'Kenjiie, C. Drummond, W. R. Bock, W. J. R. Christophcrsen, and A. Varnoy.
The state of the senior wicket at the Lower Hutt Recreation Ground, about which some complain was made recently, was the subject of a communication from the Hutt District Cricket Club, which had received a verbal assurance that everything would be done to remove any cause for complaint in the future. The club advised that it had passed the following resolution:—"That a copy of the W.C.A.'s complaint concerning the unsatisfactory state of the senior wicket on the 30th October bo forwarded to the chairman of the Reserves Committee; that he be informed that the club considers the complaint justified; that there were general complaints with respect to the junior wickets also; that the Reserves Committee be asked to take such action as will ensure satisfactory wickets in the future, particularly for the senior games, as the continuance of senior grade matches at Hutt depends on satisfactory pitches being provided, and that the club be given an assurance to transmit to the W.C.A. that everything possible will be done by the Reserves Committee to achieve the desired result."
Advice was received from, the Combined Press Cricket Committee that it would be represented by Messrs. J. D. Howitt and R. D. Roberts at the conference being called by the Wellington Cricket Association.
In notifying that the Otago Plunket Shield team to visit Wellington for the match commencing on Christmas Day would consist of twelve players and a manager, and would be leaving Duncdin on the 23rd December, the Otago Cricket Association asked that the names of four Wellington umpires be submitted for a selection of two for the match. Mr. Varney advised that the Wellington Umpires' Association had the matter in hand, and would furnish the names after its next meeting. The Manawatu Cricket , Association wrote expressing appreciation of Wellington's offer to give the services of the official coach to country players during the, week prior to the 17th December.
