SCHOOL COMMITTEE'S ACCOUNTS
AUDITING FEES DISPUTED,
Mr, Justice Alpers to-day heard a case in which John Francis P. Yeatuian claimed £667 from the Wellington Education Board. The plaintiff's statement was that he had been instructed by the board to audit the accounts of the school committees of the schools in the Wellington Education Board district, involving 250 schools. He said the audit took 70G'/4, hours, and the board had paid him £75 on account. He claimed a balance of £667, being audit fees at the rate of £7 7s per day of seven hours. The defendants claimed that the plaintiff applied for work, and was engaged to do the work at a reasonable sum to be determined by the chairman of the board, but not to exceed £73, the amount paid for audit in the previous year; Mr. A. W. Bhiir appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. T. C. Hislop for the defendant. (Proceeding.)
