LOWER HUTT METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL
The eighty-seventh anniversary services of the Lower Hutt Methodist Church were held in the King George Theatre on Sunday. A choir of 200 sang festival hymns, accompanied by an orchestra under the leadership of Mr. E. Dawson. The Rev. J. A. Lochore conducted the morning service, and made an appeal to the children to give themselves to God while they were young. At 3 p.m. the Rev. E. S. Emmett was the preacher. Speaking from the words ''What manner of child shall he become," he showed the necessity for a right and good example on the part of the parent. Crowds gathered in the evening, when the Rev. William Rowe gave a short but effective address, his subject being "Staking One's Life in the Cause of Goodness." Music and song by the choir were inspiring, the large congregation being loth to leave at the close of the service. The anniversary tea will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m., followed by a public meeting and distribution of prizes.
