MEDICAL FEES
FOR ILLNESS AS A RESULT OF THE WAR.
(By Telegraph.—Prris Association.) HAWERA, 20th November. A reserved decision of "particular interest to returned soldiers, Hearing on recent legislation providing that returned men were entitled to relief and medical expenses incurred as the result of war injuries,«the expenses to be borne by the State, was delivered by the Magistrate, Mr. Tate, at Opunake yesterday. He emphasised that, although the expenses were incurred prior to the passing of the legislation in 1924, relief could be obtained if war injuries were proved to be responsible. The case arose from < a claim by a medical practitioner against a returned soldier for professional fees while attending to' an illness suffered by the defendant in 1923. The Magistrate found that the difficulty arose through the plaintiff's^ neglect to advise the authorities in the matter. He gave judgment for the defendant.
