IMPROVEMENT LIKELY SOON.
The westerly disturbance passed dur--1 Ing the night, and strong westerly winds have given place to southerlies, with lower temperatures. Cloudy and unsettled weather has prevailed, and rain has fallen in many parts of the country. There has also been a little snow. The disturbance was not nearly so severe in its effects as was anticipated. The barometer is due to rise, and southerly winds, though strong to gale at times, are likely to decrease shortly. Cool and changeable weather is forecasted, with passing showers. The weather is likely to improve soon, however, and a few days of fine weather may be anticipated. f
