SHOCKING DISCOVERY

FAMILY WITH THROATS CUT

HUSBAND NOT BADLY INJURED.

(By Telograph.—Press Association.)

! LEVIN, This Day. A shocking discovery was made this morning by an employee of W. G. Sloman, a poultry farmer in a large way, who resides in Weraroa road and is well-known in Wellington. On going to work he found his employer and his wife and two children in the house with their throats cut. All were alive, but the wife and children were in a vory serious condition. Tho husband was not badly injured. He had been in ill-health for a long' time. No details are available pending the arrival of a detective. Full investigation revealed that the injuries to Mrs. Sloman, her son Russell, aged 13, and daughter Reta, aged 19, were caused by a tomahawk, their heads being battered terribly. Sloman is suffering from the effects of. poison, from which he is recovering, after being given an emetic. The discovery of the tragedy was made this morning by a youth, who, on arriving to commence work, found no signs of life, and who, on investigation, saw Russell Sloman lying on a bed covered with blood. The police were summoned, and the full extent of the tragedy ascertained. Reta Sloman is a pupil teacher at the Levin High School.' Very little hope is entertained of the recovery of any of the victims except the father. MRS. SLOMAN DIES. Mrs. Sloman died in the ambulance on her way to the hospital. The son and daughter are in a dangerous condition.
