PEKIN, 4th November; A sudden increase in anti-foreignism at Liuyang, in the Hunan province, hai forced the closing of the Wesleyan Mission and the evacuation of seven British missionaries, all whom have safely; arrived at Changsha with their possessions, after harrowing experioncei and narrow escapes from violence at the hands of students. The properties of British shipping and oil firms nearby were destroyed by radicals. Missionaries from various Changsha neighbourhoods are dribbling in on foot and horseback, fleeing from the wrath of an agitated populace stirred by Bed propaganda. Several Lutheran missionaries report that the Northern generals are preparing a concerted anti-Bed arive towardi Hankow. Meantime, reports have been received of numerous sanguinary encounters and minor massacres, the result of guerrilla ambuscades between opposing forces, with heavy loss of life.
