REDUCED TO DEBRIS

MOTOR-VAN COLLIDES WITH TRAIN.

(By TeleKTaph.—Pre.u Association.)

TB AWAMUTU, This Day. A motor delivery van, driven by William O'Brien, collided with a train at tho Alexandra street crossing last night. The crossing is a particularly dangorous one, as the view is obscured, but this accident was somewhat extraordinary. The train had travelled only a few hundred yards from the station, | but was gathering pace down the grade. The engine had crossed the roadway when the motor-van came right on, and collided with one of tho foremost carriages. The train stopped before it cleared the crossing, but not before a heap of debris, the remnants of the van, was piled up on the roadside. Tho driver, tho only occupant, had a miraculous escape and was thrown clear. He suffered onlj; minor cutg and, bruises. ,
