CO-OPERATION
ADVICE TO FBUIT GBOWEBS.
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Pert.1*)
■ AUCKLAND, This Day. Speaking to /.ie Albany and. Dairy Hat., orchardistn yesterday, the Hon. O. J. Hawken, Minister of Agriculture, impressed upon the fruit growers the value of co-operation in advertising, am well as. in marketing. From what ha had seen during the previous three days and during the tour of the other districts, ho was sure the growers were not exploiting the New Zealand market enough. He thought that co-operative buying of machinery was a question which could be considered. The Denmark fruit growers bought a great deal of machinery, all on a co-opcrathr* basis, and tho value of the system waa fully recognised there. Consideration of these questions would go a long way toward deciding the future of the industry in Now Zealand. The Government was willing to help in firiaTun^l matters, if it could, but he thought that finance had been too easily obtained in New Zealand in' the past, and this had been the cause of a great deal of trouble. The lessons of the past few years would probably last for generations.
