BAPTIST MEN'S SOCIETY
The annual meeting of tho Baptist Men's Society was held at the Island Bay Church on Tuesday evening. Mr. John Nieol (vice-president) occupied the chair, there being over fifty men present. The Wellington Baptist Churches were well represented. The annual report, presented by the secretary (Mr. G. Ivory) reviewed the work of the past year. Regret was expressed that the local branches had not made the progress anticipated, but a programme for the coming year was outlined, which it was hoped would stimulate enthusiasm in the society. The retiring officers were re-elected as follows:—President, Mr. Samson; vicepresidents, Messrs. J. Nicol and J. B. Carey; secretary, Mr. G. Ivory. After formal business, was disposed of, the remainder of the evening was devoted to a lecture and demonstration on "Wireless" by Mr. A. Gibbs, Chief Telegraph Engineer. By means of diagrams and various parts of wireless outfit, the lecturer explained the working of wireless on land and sea. Mr. J. E. Smith gave valuable assistance as demonstrator, and Christchurch, Auckland, and Wellington were brought in, to the delight of the audience. On tho motion of Messrs. Dawson and Carey, the thanks of the meeting were conveyed to Mr. Gibbs and Mr. Smith. The former stated his willingness to give another lecture in the near future.
