LODGE MEETING
: The fortnightly meeting of Rose of the Val'her LodSf. Manchester XJnity, 1.0.0. F., Lower ■ Hott, m held last Thursday, Bro. Hardy, 'N.G., presiding over a Urge attendance. Bros. T.BUtr, P.D.G.M., Wilejr, P.D.0.M., and Taylor, -P. 0., were present as judge*, and examined the lodge on ntnal for the Stelfenson Shield Corau petition. Bro. Hardy, on behalf of the lodge, extended a hearty welcome to fjro. Blair on his return from his trip to America. Bro 'Blair, in reply, gave an interesting account of hl» experiences. Last Wednesday the final .'social on the programme was held, and was . largely attended, a very enjoyable time being '•pent. A report was received from the Social Committee, showing a substantial sum in hand for tbe Christmas Tree Fund. Members of the Loyal Antipodean Lodge of Oddfellows. Manchester Unity, met on Tties- - <Uy evening for the fortnightly ■ meeting, Bro. '„ A.. WiißWrtght, N.G., presiding. Bros. A. C. -■■ BUir, 1.P.D.G.M.; J. S. Wiley, P.D.G.M., and T. Taylor, P. 0., attended as judges In eonvlacetion with the competition for the Ritual -Shield. Two new members were Initiated, Bro. "A. V. Cook, 1.P.N.G., delivering the initiation chajfe. Bro. H. Dormer, P.G., Lecture Mas,: t«r, gsre tbe address. Two proposals for members were received. A number of visittor brothers present included Bro. A. P. Siren, P.D.G.M. (AueMand), who was received with lodge honours. Bros. Patterson and Dromond, of Rlecarton Lodge, also expressed thank* for the welcome received. A letter of recommendation wu granted to Bro. S Prltchard. who has been transferred to Palmerston North. Bro. B. Smith, P.G., Past District Warden, and Hiss Smith, daughter of the late Bro. J. Smith, presented the lodge with a framed photograph of a district meeting of Wellington Oddfellows, held during the Jubilee celebrations la 1890. Bro. G. Read, pD.G.M., proposed a vote of thanks to the ""^MOWX* Lodge. No- ». 1.0.G.t;, held its •carton this week, C.T., Mrs. Devereaux, proIJdln? o*er » good attendance. One candidate - was proposed.
