SANDERS GUP

A CATCH IN THE POINTS

SYSTEM,

(By Telegraph.)

(Special to "The Evening Post.")

DUNEDIN, This Day.

At a meeting of the Otago Yacht Association, at which the Sanders Cup race was discussed, a member said that at the last Auckland conferonco a recommendation had come forward that, when the contest was decided on points, the system should bo 4 points for first, 3 for second, 2 for third, and 1 for fourth. That, however, would allow of a boat, not having once scojed a win, being awarded the cup. Under the system suggested by him tho winner of a race would get one point more than there were starters, tho second boat ono less, and so on through the field. They should not leave a loophole for a boat to win a Sanders Cup without winning a race. It was decided to adopt the membor's system.
