The French Ambassador visited the Foreign Office- and made a protest over recent incidents at Benghazi, where the crowd ordered the French Consul to hoist the Italian flag, and also at Tripoli, where a mob broke into the' French Consulate.

The Foreign Minister apologised, promising to punish tho offenders.
