LAND AGENTS

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION.

Tile thirteenth annual meeting of the Wellington Land Agents and Auctioneers' Association was held last evening. The president, Mr. It. E. Mauley, occupied the chair. Mr. Dunbar Sloane ivas elected president for the ensuing year, and paid a tribute to the ivork of the retiring .president. Mr. Sloane mentioned that after 31st March, 1927, anyone wishing to become a member of the Institute of Land Agents must pass an examination. In his opinion the result would be to add to the status of land agents generally. Other officers elected were: Messrs. A. A. Gellatly and A. E. Curners, vice-presi-dents; K. E. Mauley, H. E. Leigh ton, O. H. Isenge, Neil Gow, and C. M. Ellison, committee; S. E. Lambert, auditor. A motion to alter the name of the association to "The Real Estate Institute of Wellington" to bring it into line with the rules of the parent institution, "The Reid Estate Institute of New Zealand," was carried, an amendment to defer the matter for three months being defeated. A further amendment to postpone the question for six months was ruled out by the chairman, and a member who took strong exception to the ruling left the meeting, but subsequently returned. A motion by Mr. A. Gellatly that "After 31st March, 1927, no land agent, or auctioneer, be eligible for election as a member unless he has passed the examination of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand," was carried.
