DAIRY CONTROL BOARD
MB. TIMPANY BEPLJES TO MINISTER.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
INVEECAEGILL, 3rd Nov. Interviewed to-day with reference to the comment by the Minister of Agriculture on his statement dealing with the marketing policy of the Dairy Control Board, 11 Mr. T. M. Timpany said he had promised his electors he would keep them informed of the position in connection with the marketing policy, and had made his statement after giving careful thought to the matter. Mr. Hawken had stated that the statement might have been left to the act-ing-chairman of the board, but the.act-ing-chairman had had any amount of time and had not made any statement. "I made my statement to the electors," he said, "and I am prepared to inswer to them and the board for what I have done. I do not retract one word, I believe the dairymen are entitled to the information. "With reference to Mr. Hawken's remarks about prioe fixation, I would draw his attention to the fact that Mr. Fisher, the previous Southland member of the board, gloated over the fact that the board had not abandoned its pricefixing policy, having only changed its name. Mr. Hawken may like to explain away that opinion of a man who was a member of the board. Ido not want to argue about the matter. I have spoken to my electors because I think it necessary in view of the importance of the matter.''
