LOWER HUTT SITTING.
The fortnightly-sitting of the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court was held yesterday before Mr. K. Page, S.M. J. M. Touroll, for exposing goods for sale on Sunday, was fined £1. Failure to enter the hours of employment of his factory employees in his wages book cost H. Sungren 10s and costs. Pat IVepia was sentenced to one month's imprisonment for failing to pay the amount owing on a maintenance order amounting to £4 10s, the warrant to be suspended for 21 days to enable payment, to be made. Judgment for plaintiffs by default was given in the following undefended civil eases: —B. W. Bird v. E. J. Barnes, £3 0s 6d> A. S. Cooper v. H. H. Masters. ss. In a defended case, Mrs. E. C. Coopor (Mr. R. E. Gillon) sued G. H. Parsonoca (Mr. C. B. Barrett) for £10, being the defendant's share of the cost of a joint drain. The defence' was that the contract to pay was conditional on other parties being included. Judgment was given for the full amount claimed with costs^. Before Mr. Q. Fownes, J.P., at the Mount Cook Police Court to-day, Timothy Murray, a third offender for drunkenness, was convicted and discharged. A first offender was similarly treated.
