His Excellency tho Governor-Gen-eral (Sir 'Charles Fergusson) left, for Auckland by the Limited express last night.

The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. K. S. "Williams) returned to Wellington from the North last night. The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice (the Hon. F. J. Rolleston) left for tho South last night. The Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. R. F. Bollard) is visiting the Manawatu A. and P. Show to-day. Tho Minister of Lands (the Hon. A. D. M'Leod) will return to Wellington from tho Wairarapa to-night. . Tho Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes and Lady Rhodes, who arrived in Wellington yesterday from Auckland on their return from Australia, left for Christchurch last night. Mr. Culford Bell returned from, Auckland to-day. Mr. D. Jones, M.P., arrived in Wellington from the South this morning. Sir Francis Boys was a passenger from tho South by the Maori this morning. Mi. AValter Tripe, general manager of the Gear Meat Preserving Company, who has bey. on a trip to Great Britain extending over several months, returned to Wellington yesterday. The North Auckland Presbytery has nominated the Rev. George Budd to tho Moderatorship of the General Assembly, states a Press Association telegram from Whangarei. Mr. A. L. Hunt, at yesterday's executive meeting of the English-speaking Union, was elected chairman for the ensuing year, with Mr. M. Barnett (at present in England) as deputy chairman.
