Speaking at the Indian Union's luncheon to-day, General Hertzog (South Africa) quoted the phrase, "To know a man is not to be able to hate him." The South African Premier then went on to emphasise the value of the Imperial Conference in enabling them, not only to know one another better, but to appreciate one another's problems and weaknesses . and disappointments, adding: "When we reach that stage as nations and individuals a great many bickerings and misunderstandings will cease.
