TAXATION GOING UP
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN FINANCES.

In the Legislative Assembly, the State Treasurer, Mr. Lionel Hill, in his Budget speech, said that the surplus for 1925-26 was £13,151. / A tarn of £193,000 for railway stores, not paid last year, was carried through for this year. The sinking fund received £236,----000. The estimated surplus for this year on a 14-bushel harvest against a 12----bushel one last year is £5000. Land tax will be increased by 50 per cent., and a super-tax on incomes by 10 per cent, to meet the losses in general revenue, exclusive of railways.
