T.M.V. WINES, LTD., Hawkes Bay.
Twenty-six years ago to-morrow, ItNovember, Mr. Bernard Chambers, of Havelock North, H. 8., sold the first
wine to be made commercially in NewZealand. The present Te Mats Vineyards are the outcome of Mr, Chambers's pioneer effort in the winegrowing industry. These magnificent vineyards, situated on the sunny slopes of the Havelock Hills, contain grape vines of only the very finest variety. This factor, together with a cellar as up-to-date as any in the world, and the constant attention of Mt. J. O. Craike, the company's vigneron, combine to produce wines that can hold their own with the best Australian products. \ Mr. Craike, who has made a life* time study of viticulture and wineblending, can bo justly proud of his unique record in New Zealand; namely, seven gold medals to his credit, of which number three were gained at exhibitions held in Great Britain.
The cellars are three times' larger than any others in New ZeJand, having a storage capacity of ,100,000 gallons. There is to-day maturing in luge oaken casks over 75,000 gallons.
Visitors to the Show can satisfy themselves as to quality and excellence of these wines uy sampling them at either of the T.M.V. Wine Company _ stands. ; . \
