Cabinet decided that the Crown should enter a plea of nolle prosequi in the case of Evan Clarke in connection with the muriter of Detectives Walsh and Pitman, near Kalgoorlio in April last, for which Philip John Treffene and A?illiam Coulter, associates of Clarke in gold stealing, were hanged on 25th October.

Clarke turned King's evidence at the trial.
