The following cable message is being sent to the Prime Minister at London, and a copy to the London "Times," signed by Messrs. Atmore, Hudson, Girling, Mason, Kyle, Horn, Campbell, and Jordan, Members of Parliament:— "We Parliamentary representatives of the fruit exporting districts- of New Zealand, wish to emphasise tho vital necessity of obtaining British preference over American competitors for fruit entering Britain, and respectfully suggest that you place this before the Imperial Conference and the Home Government as imperative for the continued existence of the Dominion fruit industry, which is almost entirely dependent on the British market. We remind you of New Zealand's purchase of British goods; to the value of £16 per head annually, as compared with the American per capita purchase of nine shillings per annum." '
