HOSPITAL RADIO FUND CONCERT.

A very large audience is expected at the Town Hall to-night, when a concert with a double attraction will be presented, A most attractive programme has been arranged, with the object of augmenting the fund established by the Radio Society of Wellington for the installation of radio receiving apparatus in the Public Hospital. It needs very little imagination even on the part of those who have never been ill and in hospital to realise the dreariness that must be the lot of many of the hundreds of patcints in the hospital. Although many cannot read there are few who cannot listen, and the advent of music, news, and all that radio broadcast can give to every bed in the hospital would be one of the greatest benefits that could be conferred on the institution after the services at present given by the hospital staff. To-night's concert should appeal not only to those who have compassion on the afflicted, but also to those who enjoy hearing talented performers. The Port Nicholson Silver Band, under the baton of Mr. J. J. Drew, will contribute the overture "Raymond," '.'Gems From Rossini," and the famous English march, "8.8. and C.F." Mr. A. Petri (baritone), Mrs. J. F. Woodward (soprano), Mr. Tom Wood (bass baritone), and Mrs. P. Townley (contralto) will give various items Mr. C. W. Kerry is to play the grand organ solos, "Toccata" (Dubois), "Cantilene'' (Salome),.and ,'Allegi-etto" (Wolstenhohne). The cornet solo, Zelda (Percy Code), will be submitted by Mr. W. Stevenson, champion cornetist of New Zealand, who will be accompanied by the Port Nicholson Band. "Cello solos by Mr. G. Ellwood and flute solos by Mr. Claude Tucker are also on the bill. Mr. L. J. De Mauny will be responsible for violin solos, Mr. A. Stanley Warwick is '.isted for elocutionary items, and Mr. Norman Aitken for a musical monologue. Mr. Harold Whittle and Miss Spinks will provide the pianoforte accompaniments, lhe box plan is at The Bristol.
