Sir .William Clark, Comptroller-Gen-eral of tho Overseas Trade Department, pointed out to the Easearch Committoo of tho Imperial Conference that the Imperial Institute 's primary object was the dissemination of Empire-wide scientific, technical, and economic information, relating to minerals and animal and vegetable products.

Dr. A. W. Hill (Director of the Boyal Botanic Gardens at Kaw) declared that its scientific work was better known and recognised overseas than in Bri» tain. They were giving special attention to the production of solid camphor from tho tropical colonies, and also high-yielding rubber trees, and a strain of bananas that will resist Panama disease.
