ROYAL SHOW VENUES
CONTROVERSY REVIVED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
PALMERSTON N., This Day,
"I think the day is coming when the agricultural'and pastoral shows in the Dominion will resolve themselves into one or two main fixtures at tho most suitable centres. Palmorston North must always remain one .of these, and this is whore the Royal Show should be hold every second year, alternating with one South Island centre. '' Such was the comment of. Mr. R. D. D. M'Lean, of Maraekalcaho, Hawkes Bay, a prominent stock breeder, who was interviewed to-day on various matters of agricultural and pastoral interest. Auckland, he stated, was too "out of the way" as a Royal Show centre. It was too far to send stock there from the lowor half of the North Island, and tho risk of interruption iv the linos of communication with tho Northern centre was far greater than was the case in transporting stock to Palmerston North.
"Here," ho said, "you have a firstclass ground with splendid appointments. Auckland cannot bear an allround comparison" with it. The Palmorston North show grounds are the most up-to-date in the North Island, and are ideally central for breeders."
