BLOOD TRANSFUSION
OPERATIONS ON INFANTS,

The cable message from Hobart;'regarding a blood transfusion operation on a child thirty-six hours old, stated that the previous record reported was performed on a child of six. How rever, there have been Iwo cases of such operations on children under six in the Christchurch Hospital. Some months ago a child named Neil Dodge, who, only sixteen months old, was run over by a water cart, was taken to tho hospital almost dead. His injured leg was amputated, and a blood transfusioa operation performed;. There was no doubt that the blood transfusion saved tho child's life. A similar operation was also successfully performed on another Christchurch child, two and a- half years old. ."--■-'■;
