NAPIER'S NOVELTY

NAPIER, 16th Sept.

. A slight fall of snow was experienced in Napier this evening, and on the port side the hills were actually covered to the ground. An old resident remembers an occasion fifty-two years ago when snow could be gathered in corners and on fences, but since then there has never been a sufficiently heavy fall to permit -. snowballing. The last fall in Napier was probably fifteen years ago, and then was only slight. Further south heavy falls were- reported this evening, and snow is said to be over a foot deep on the ground in places.
