AUSTRALIANS AT BLACKPOOL

[ .WOODFULL CARRIES HIS BAT.

.(United Press Association.—Copyright.) (Beceived 14th September, 10 a.m.)

LONDON, 13th September. The week-end gale moderated this morning, and the weather was bright but cool for the commencement of the ■econd day of the match between Aubtralia and the North of England team at Blackpool. The wicket is good, and the attendance was about 5000.

After lunch a biting wintry gale started, blowing all the afternoon. It brought ruin and compelled an adjournment for an hour. The game had only been resumed for a short time when rain compelled an abandonment for the day. Tho Australian fielding was keen despite the bitter wind.

■Parker was turning tho ball sharply, and kept the batsmen- watching; Woodfull, when at 94, gave an easy chance to Boot at fine slip from a ball oft Parker, but the fieldsman missed. Bichardson gave a bright and attractive display, hitting six 4's. A few minutes after his dismissal the innings closed, Woodfull performing tho great feat of carrying his bat. He was sound throughout, and gave only one chance. This is his eighth century of the tour. He was slow, but unperturbed, and hit ■even .4's;'

. The North of England^ opening was tedious, Holmes, after giving promise of a bright opening, relapsed under the quietening influence of good bowling.
