LADIES' HOCKEY

MANAKAU (2) v. JOHNSONVILLE (0).

The Johusonville Ladies' HockeyClub, -which, did so well in the Wellington competitions this season, sent a team to Manakau on Saturday. After a fast and interesting game the Manakau girls won, 2-0. The backs were all reliable and cleared well, while both sets of forwards played excellent hockey. At half-time there was no score, but early in the second spell, Miss Lander found an opening and scored Manakau's first goal. Later in the spell Miss Monk scored again for the home team. Miss Stupples had to retire owing to an injury to her knee. Prior to the game, the visitors were tendered a dinner, at which Mr. H. Nicolson, chairman of the local association, presided, and after the match, they were entertained at afternoon tea. At both functions the visitors expressed their appreciation of the hospitality accorded them.
