EMPRESS THEATRE.
Thomas Meighan comes back to the Empress Theatre again in the programme which commenced to-day. He will be seen with Lila Lee in his latest Paramount picture, "The New Klondike." Against a seething, roaring, infinitely colourful background, Thomas Meighan has made a great comedy-drama. One sees the methods" of the Yankee "land shark," and their methods are so many and varied that it is a wonder that anybody manages to slip through their fingers. As usual in Meighan pictures, there is a delightful vein of comedy running right through the picture. "Sunrise" is a picture which deals with the hunt for gold in Australia's outback. Some of the most magnificent scenery in New South Wales ha 3 been transferred to the screen in this film, which has a particularly thrilling plot. The cast includes Richard Travers and Phyllis Dv Barry. The latest Pathc Gazette includes scenes from the second Test match at Leeds, also the jubilee tennis tournament at Wimbledon.
