MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police Court cases and civil prosecutions in the Magistrate's Court this morning were dealt with by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.
Edward Wilson, alias William H f Rae, a seaman and moulder, was convicted and discharged for drunkenness, and was fined £3, in default seven days' imprisonment, for committing a grossly indecent act.
Fot procuring liquor while prohibited, Patrick Joseph Sheehy was fined £2, in default seven days' imprisonment.
M. A. Jones, butcher, who failed to keep a proper Wages and time book in respect of his two sons, whom he employed as shop assistants, was fined £2, in default three days' imprisonment.
Failure to Iceep a wages and overtime book cost Bainey and Pawson, tailors, £3, in default seven days' imprisonment.
A penalty of lOg was imposed on Cecil Watson Palmer, meager of the I'luenzol Proprietary, Ltd., who employed a youth 'inder 16 year^ of age, without first having obtained a certificate as to his fitness.
Failure to observe the statutory halfholiday cost Mrs. C. Gold, confectioner and grocer, £1, in default three days' imprisonment. For a similar offence, E. C. Kiissell and Co., Ltd., groee*, were fined £1. A penalty of 10s wa;j imposed on J. Bussoll and Sons, who failed to close their shop at 9 p.m. on J^day, 16th July.
