Victorian competitors Were recordbreakers at the fifteenth biennial ' Australian ami-New-Zealand ..track and field games championships exhibition to-day, in the-presence of 3000 spectators. -The. weather conditions were again ideal, and tke track was in good condition. It certainly was a day out for the Victorians, as the previous Saturday was New South Wales's day. Victoria annexed the 440. yards hurdles, 880 yards' championship, three-mile run, and high jump,! equalising the New South Wales championship totaL The issue for the championship was, then exciting. Australasian records were broken wholesale. Probably the most magnificent effort of the day was an epic run by Hyde in the three-mile run. Mason's feat establishing a new Australasian record' in the high jump was the result of brilliant jumping. Grehan's race in the 220 yards was commendable, and he worthily sustained his reputation. Owing to an injured leg Burns (New South Wales) was unable to compete. The championship was won by Victoria with eight firsts, including a point for the Decathlon. Following is the championship table:— Firsts. Seconds. Thirds. Victoria 8 1 0 New South Wales 6 6 3 Queensland 3 7 11 New Zealand .... 2 2 2 South Australia .. . 0 2 3 Tasmania :.O 0 1 Victoria retained the shield. Cabot's pace over the final quarter was unable to cope with the leader, who went right away, winning by 150 yards. Cabot was a comfortable second. Time, 6min 43 3-ssec.
