BURGLARIES IN ASHBURTON

ASHBURTON, 21st August.
A thief entered J. and J. Sutherland's bakery shop last night by removing the putty from the window in the bakehouse, and stole a cash-box containing &5. The intruder left his hat and a packet containing four cigarettes on the floor near the window. A suspect was arrested this morning.
The burglary follows an ii-cident on the previous night, when "W. H. Collins and Co. 's plate-glass window was smashed and an electric torch case was stolen.
