PARLIAMENTAY SALARIES KUSTOBATION Oi 1 £50 "CUT." A movement is on foot amongst members of Parliament to have their honoraria restored to the level they enjoyed before the "cuts" were made about four years ago. In common with Public Service employees, members of both branches ,of the Legislature suffered a reduction in salary under the Public Servico Expenditure Adjustment Act. In the case of the House of "Representatives the former salary of £500 was reduced to £450. It is understood that a committee of members is likely to wait on the Gov- ■ eminent to urge that the £50 "cut" should' be reinstated, and that something should be done to institute a superannuation scheme for Parliamentarians so as to obviate the voting of money session after session for compassionate allowances for ex-legislators in need of financial assistance. • Should members of Parliament want - the £50 "cut" remedied, it is not unlikely that a similar request would be made on behalf of the Public Service.
