MEDICAL SCHOOL
ESTABLISHMENT AT AUCKLAND.

AUCKLAND, This Day
The first step in the establishment of a medical school in Auckland was taken last night, when the Hospital Board promised cordial co.-operation in making provision at the hospital for sixth-year medical students. The chairman (Mr. W. Wallace) and other members welcomed tho innovation as the initial effort to break down the policy of centralisation which hitherto has made it necessary for medical students to spend the whole period of their study in Dunedin. Mr. Wallace observed that the establishment of a clinical school would assist parents, who found difficulty in keeping their boys at Otago University. The honorary medical staff's views were expressed by Kenneth Mackenzie, who stressed the value to the community and the students of a year's training at the hospital. The subject was also brought before the board by the Council of Auckland University College, and representatives were appointed to a conference with the College Coroeil, to dtßeow details ,of the .sekema. .
