THE ADVENT OF PAVLOVA.

There has been a steady run on the plans for Pavlova, which opened yesterday, and there is no doubt that the famous dancer is going to prove as great an attraction here as she has been in Australia and Auckland, where 6he_ has broken all records. The season, which begins on Saturday night, is limited to seven nights and two matinees, to be staged on Wednesday and Saturday week. There will be three changes of programme, the first change to happen on Wednesday night, the final programme being presented on Frida and Saturday, 18th and 19th June. Saturday night's programme will include "The Fairy • Doll," "Rondino," '■'The Swan," and The "Russian Dance," in all of which Pavlova created an absolute sensation on her big gala performance in Melbourne. Another magnificent ballet to be staged on Saturday night is "The Polish Wedding." In "The Fairy Doll" Pavlova is supported by Laurent Novikoff, and the whole of her London and Paris organisation. There appears to be some reason for thinking that Pavlova herself is a fairy. How else jould she dance so lightly, pirouette with such finish and such grace, and dwell almost as much in the air as on the earth? Whatever the facts in the case, she is both fairy and doll to the life. Pavlova's exposition of "The Swan Dance" also rouse audiences to the highest pitch of enthusiasm, as also does her interpretation of the Russian "Hance.
