Mr. Cook announced that he was prepared to recommend the miners' executive meeting on Bth June to accept the invitation of Mr. Evan ■Williams, chairman of the British Coal Owners' Association, to a conference to seek a basis of agreement, not' involving reduced wages or longer hours.
