Tho Hon. W. A. "Wright, Minister of Education, leaves for the South tonight, accompanied by Mr. J. Caughlcy, the Director of Education. Captain L. M. Isitt, officer commanding the "Wigram Aerodrome, is leaving by the lonic for England, accompanied by Mrs. Isitt. The Eev. J. C. Loan, of Petone, was elected Moderator of the Wellington Presbytery last evening. An Auckland Press Association message reports the death of the Key. H. E. Dewsbury, a retired Methodist minister. Dr. Teichelmann has been asked to represent tho Hokitika Savings Bank at a world's conference at Philadelphia, United States, in October. Dr. Teichelmann will probably undertake the trip, and if he does, is likely to represent other Npw Zealand savings banks. Mr. J. Mallard, general manager of the National Insurance Company, having reached the retiring age under the company's pension scheme has asked to be allowed to retire and has been granted there months' leave of absence as from 30th June, states "The Post's" Dunedin correspondent. Mr. Mallard has been associated with the insurance business for over fifty years, thirtyeight of which have been with the National Company and twelve with the Victoria Company, Mr. Mallard having joined the latter company under the late Mr. W. Devenish Mears in March, 1876. The funeral took place yesterday of I Mr. F. Rouse, at one time a member of the firm of Messrs. Rouse, Black, and Son, of Wellington. The late Mr. Rouse was one of' the oldest identities in the coachbuilding trade in New Zealand, and a man of sterling character and integrity. Tho chief mourners were Messrs. Pavitt and Eliasson (sons in-law). Amongst those present were Messrs. H. Black, R. Black, E. C. Harvie (representing the New Zealand Coach and Motor Body Builders' Federation), J. E. Hunt (president, Wellington Master Coachbuilders' Association), D. H. Taylor, B. Oldfield, G. Harrison^ N. .Doneghue, M. Spiers, and Mr. Gibbons (Colonial Motor Co.), and others.

Dr. E. P. Neale, who has been selected by the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce for the post of secretary rendered vacant by tho death of Mr. H. C. Tewsley, will take up his duties about the middle of July. Dr. Neale, who is a native of Dunedin, and who studied at Otago University and Victoria College, holds the degrees of M.A., with honours in Philosophy, LL.B., M. Com., with first-class honours in Economics, and D.Sc. He is a Tellow of the Royal Statistical Society. He was compiler in charge of Trade and Finance Statistics in the Government Statistician's Office in Wellington from 1920 to 1925, and was lecturer in Economics at Victoria College and also secretary of the tutorial classes of the Workers' Educational Association. About the middle of last year ho was reappointed to the Gensus and Statistics Office, where he has been in charge of the branch for industrial and economic inquiries. He was one of the founders of the Wellington branch of the Economic, Society of Australia and New Zealand, of which ho has also boon secretary.'
