(Bt Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 30th April. The office of bishop of the newlycreated diocese of Waikato has been accepted by Archdeacon Cecil Arthur Cherrington,, Archdeacon of Mauritius.

A clergyman who formerly studied under Archdeacon Cherrington at Selwyn Hostel, Lichfield, describes the new Bishop as an able scholar, preacher, and organiser, and a man of broad and tolerant views and wide human sympathies. He regards him as an acquisition to the church in the Dominion and one whose marked organising abilities will stand him in good stead in the new diocese.
