CHKISTCHURCH, 7th April. Though the Australian potato market, continues very firm, there is little inquiry from that quarter. A very fair quantity ha 3 been bought for the May-June shipment, and a vessel is due to leave Xyttelton direct about 19th April with early consignments. Traders are not sanguine about' th« keeping character of the tubers shipped this month, and at the moment all parties are disposed to go slow. Values on trucks at Canterbury stations range from £5 10s to £5 15s a ton. Onions have made a further jump in price, and if the shipping were available the values would soar locally. TJp to £14 a ton, has been ottered on trucks. Oats are scarcely so firm as a week or two ago. To 4s Cd, f.0.b., 8.i., for "A" Gartons and to 4s Sd for "B's" is the general quotation, but there ii no inquiry. Algerians are worth 3s 9ci to 4s on trucks, and Duns to ■<« 3d. Cocksfoot is worth H}d per lb for standard seed, or 7d to 7Jd on trucks. There is an absolute dearth of inquiry. A Rood deal of white clover Is offering, there being some big lines about. From 9d to lid a lb on tracks is quoted. The southern crop is depressing the market for rye grass. Perennial is quoted »t 4s, and Italian at 3s on trucks, or 5s 9d' to 4s !>d respectively for dressed seed, f.0.b., 6.1. Wheat is slowly drifting into the hands of inillfm st the latters' price, namely, 6s 8d to .7s, f.0.b., according to variety. '
