Holts opened the local team's account with a try, but Wanganui secured the lead per medium of a converted try by Barry, Corliaa adding the minor points. Just before half-time Hall kicked a penalty goal for Wellington, making the half-time , wore 6-5. Crotty scored for Wanganui soon after play was resumed, but penalty goals by Hall and Griffen gave Wellington-the lead. There was no further scoring, the game ending: Wellington, 12; Wanganui, 8. ;
