CROQUET TOURNEY
YESTERDAY'S GAMES,
Although the weather had a bad effect on games in the Dominion croquet tournament, which is being carried on at the Kelburn, Karori, and Wellington greens, play was advanced a further Btage. Results of the games after "The Post" went to press are:— Ladies' Championship.—Miss Hescott beat Mrs. Gardiner, 26-12; Miss Leech beat Mrs. Lowery, 26-24; Mrs. Coutts beat Mrs. How, 26-13; ■ Mrs. Brabant beat Mrs. Lowrey, 26-22.
Handicap Singles.—Mrs. Palmer beat Mrs. Morrah, 26-22; Mrs. Gambrill beat Mrs. Palmer, 26-19; Mr. E. Caughley beat Mrs. Henderson, 26-23; Mrs. Leech beat Mrs. Brabant, 26-9; Mrs. Maddren beat Mr. M. Claque, 26-24; Mrs. Hayrnasoh beat Mrs. Yates, 26-22.
Open Championship.—Mrs. Glass beat Mrs. Pitcaithly, 2-0; Mrs. Ross beat Mrs. Bartlett, 2-0.
Handicap Doubles.—Mrs. Bartlett and. Mr. Murray 26, beat Miss Mescott and Mrs. Lawrie 20.
Open Championship Singles.—Sir Francis Wemyss beat Mrs. Johnson, 2-1.
The annual meeting of the New Zealand Croquet Association was held' last evening in the Dominion Farmers' Institute. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted in Mr. Cauhey being re-elected president. Mr. J. Murray, of Hamilton, was elected vice-presi-dent, and Mr. C. A. E. Ferguson, of Palmerston North, secretary and treasurer.
It was decided to hold next year's tournament at Palmerston North about the middle of January, and the North Island tournament at Auckland at a date to be fixed later.
