LONDON, 15th January.
In reference to the fact that the underwriters were left with more than* half the Queensland and' South Australian loans on their hands, and that both issues are at a discount, the "Financial Times" and "Financial News" merely comment that the results of the Australian loans were ■ expected.
The "Morning Post" says the recent high terms for foreign loans have momentarily diverted the attention of the ordinary investor from gilt-edged securities, and professional investors, aware of such tendency, will doubtless endeavour to acquire new gilt-edgeds at a discount, if possible. It is not surprising, however, to find, as on previous occasions, that the discount rapidly disappears with the absorption of stock by purchases on the market.
