LEAGUE AND DISARMAMENT,

(oimsß rasis usocuvoa-tonutm.y ' (SEUTIR'S TILIOBAM.)

(Received sth January, noon.)

WASHINGTON, 4th January.

President Coolidge requested Congress on Monday to appropriate 50,000 dollars to cover the expenses of the participation of the United States in the preliminary disarmament discussions of the League of Nations. '/Participations in the work preparatory to the Commission involves no commitment with respect of attendance upon a future conference or conferences in reduction and limitation of armaments. In my judgment, so far as a preliminary inquiry is concerned, w» ought to give our aid and cooperation to the fullest extent, consistent with the policy which we have adopted," the President said.
