WELLINGTON'S SPECIAL BRAND
"I notice that in your '-Wireless Notes' of the 24th instant J'Qtt *ofer io a letter received from s correspondent relating. (to the interference eausccV'by sonjo unknown source," write;) Mr. D. I*< Harrowcr (Brooklyn). "Your correspondent is by no means underestimating the 'terrific roar' which has been present now for some weeks, and practically blots out all distant reception'as far as clarity is concerned. At tiroes a continuous generator hum is present, lasting for hours, and then it stops suddenly, comes on again iv a few moments. At other times the ■interference (from, I should say, the same source) takes the form of a continuous crackle, with a semblance of Morse running through it, with distinct letters occasionally. This; interference is more marked when one or moro stages of radiofrequency are employed. I am using a powerful imported set, and I can assure you 'listening-in' at the present time is anything but a pleasant occupation, I would thank you, through the medium of your paper, to give this matter further publicity, in order that some steps may be taken to eradicate this nuisance. You state in your column that the howling valve nuisance ig wore (or some words to h\ similar effect) than this noise eom--plained of. "Personally, I would father have all the howling valves, which, arc only more or leas of tern' porary duration, than a continuous din nightly." , . It is hoped that some attention will be paid to this nuisance by those who can exert some influence in having it abolished. It is a recent development, and this fact narrows down the number of suspects.
